JR Productions Disc Jockey may be a new mobile music service but it has been a long time in the making. My DJ experience began 11 years ago when I began working for one of the DJ services here in Ft Collins / Loveland area. It was thrilling for me to interact with a party full of people whom I had never met before and win them over with my own brand of music selections, crowd interaction and use of lighting effects.
This of course is only possible when the DJ follows the guidelines set down by the party organizers and when the DJ has the ability to “read” the crowd.
The ability to “read” a crowd at an event is not a mystery nor is it difficult. However it does take practice, practice that only comes with experience. Yes, experience as a Mobile DJ is important, however experience in other areas of crowd interaction can also be invaluable to developing a more well rounded approach to entertaining an audience - making “reading” an audience much easier.
The truth is that VERY few Disc Jockey companies offer only Disc Jockey services or are actually full-time as in 40 plus hours a week devoted to only the DJ business (despite what they might tell you). Most have needed to become more diverse in what they can offer in order to grow as a business all year long. I believe that this can be of great benefit for the consumer (You). These companies have the ability to entertain and interact with your guests in many more ways that seem a little more “fresh” because these DJ’s are not simply seeing yet another in a never ending stream of dance parties.
One suggestion that I would like to make to you when you are looking at which DJ Service to hire for your event is to ask, “what other areas of entertainment does my DJ have experience in?”
DJ services hire DJ’s with many different levels of experience and abilities. For this reason you MUST insist on meeting with the actual DJ that will perform at your event. You are really hiring an individual DJ and not the company that he or she actually works for. This is a service industry and as with any service industry the service can only be as good as the actual individual giving such services.
